Matthew struthers

Matthew has been involved with music his entire life, since he first touched a piano key at the tender age of 3. Born with a physical disability called Cerebral Palsy, he was inhibited from certain physical activities, but it allowed him to follow his passion of music. Throughout his struggles, he discovered a superior talent, and saw music to be an emotional outlet, and soon found that playing and performing for other people brought him the greatest happiness.

Matthew’s career as a pianist has been ongoing for 15 years of study and practice.  He is currently studying at the esteemed Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain and will graduate as a Master of Music in Contemporary Performance. He is also a self-taught guitarist, active songwriter and inspired transcriber. Such a gifted transcriber, in fact, that he has managed to chart 60 songs in under 2 days. Thanks to his talents and skills, Struthers has able to enjoy many different opportunities including performing with Josh Groban, Jon Schmidt (The Piano Guys), Due West, and opening for Carl Allen.

Matthew has also been a part of many studio sessions, and feels at ease in the environment, whether as a session musician or producer or content creator.  His fast pace of learning is an asset in every scenario. 

Matthew is well versed in many different styles, including R&B, Jazz, Funk, and Rock. He also loves to play the synthesizer, and create new sounds for modern music.

His main influences include Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, and Monty Alexander. Other influences include the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Michael Jackson.
